Oxide Claywork
These pieces were made in 2013 and are a set of experiments using oxides mixed in a white stoneware body to intensify the colour of the glaze. The designs follow on from the cornish coastline series of work. Copper carbonate is worked into the clay to produce colours of black, orange and tan gradients of the turquiose glaze. The body also changes colour in firing to a light warm buff colour and the addition of silicon carbide to the edges of the pinch pots produces bright red flecks.
